2006年度 諾貝爾物理學獎得獎者名單已在10月3日揭曉. 此獎將由美國國家航空太空總署(NASA) 的 John C. Mather 及柏克萊加州大學(University of California Berkeley) 的George F. Smoot 分享; 其貢獻為 "發現宇宙微波背景輻射的黑體性及方向性" ("for their discovery of the blackbody form and anisotropy of the cosmic microwave background radiation").
